It was simply possible to put wires from the solar panels under the skating element on the roof, there is already a finished hole, and not make additional holes on the roof ... And yes, the tree before painting should still be primed, and it would be nice to soak with an antiseptic ...

I'd have thought 2" thick slabs of mineral wool or foil backed celotex between the framing timbers would have been just as good for thermal performance (and quicker and less messy!)

I'll be using 2 grain silos, covered in 2'x10' panels homemade, facia is a thin layer of waterproof cement poured to resemble faux, fitted sandstone blocks backed by 4" of homemade aircrete. Love, love aircrete! My Father was an early adopter of factory-autoclaved lightweight concrete. Best insulating siding ever... oh ya IT'S FIREPROOF. We would love to see you guys armor your house-in-the-woods. Check out the "Honey Do Carpenter" on youtube. His shed build was viewed a bunch a million times. Great team you guys. This is a friendly suggestion. Fill the stud bay and especially roof with as much foam as you can. Usually roofs get twice as much more insulation than walls by code because most of your losses go through there. Even if you don't use spray foam and just cheap whatever I think you will thank yourself. Most places have a minimum code of R20 and your 2" of foam is only giving R12. There are maps you can look up that show what the suggested R value by climate zone. Good Luck.

Urgh - sprayfoam is the worst in every aspect, but I guess there's not really a better option for a shipping container. But man, you guys are a great team (y)

You could install ground source heat pump(en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_source_heat_pump) to cut 66% off the water heating. Excess heat could be also used to heat up the house(water through radiators/floor). We use that kind of system here in Finland. Using generator to produce electricity for water heating is quite inefficient. You would achieve much better efficiency directly burning gasoline to heat up the boiler.

We have solar and use the truck as a battery backup. We don't use the onboard pro-power, we use the home integration system that we got with the truck. It plugs into the charge port and provides 80amps to our home. When the sun is out and we are getting solar, it charges. When the sun goes down we use the battery from the truck to power the entire home. No need to ever unplug it, no need to leave it on. And the truck fully charges by the end of the day and we only use about 5% from evening until morning. We've had zero issues with it and would absolutely buy it again.

As far as longevity and maintenance, one of the big differences is that a "normal" gasoline generator doesn't have an oil pump. This shrinks the maintenance interval for running hours between oil changes and probably shortens the overall lifespan of running hours due to the shavings and crud that circulates through the engine without being captured. Honestly, if my riding lawn mower can manage an oil pump and filter, why the hell can't a 9k generator do it?

Great experiment. I'm 45,000 miles into my Lightning (and first EV), and its perfect for my ~205 mile commute. Saves a ton of money compared to ICE truck.

I think with the summertime excess solar production, this will be a perfect addition to the fleet.

Riley puts heater in UTV to make it comfortable for the driver to sit in it. Riley then makes it impossible to sit in and drive it. Riley proceeds to then sit on UTV instead. Approved!

I have no idea why people buy containers (or get them for free) then cut the sides out, make a wood framework and claim it is a container home. Just clad the woodwork you already put in with normal materials and have a cheaper, safer, less moldy home? Doesn't make sense.

your wise to get the half cells every 2 is 48v what you need to be 3 phase an charge evs with that 750 amazon universal Tesla port kit 240 an 48v is the way to go also remember to add vermiculite that has insane thermal value in the cavities it can better regulate the cargo house one bag of 15 cubic meters of it was around 55 bucks can do 30f cargo worth of cavities btw
